Q: What does ASE Certified mean? A: In 1972 the National Institute for Automobile Service Excellence was established to improve the quality of vehicle repair and servce through the testing and certification of repair and service professionals. To become ceritfied, each technician must pass an exam and provide proof of 2 years of work service in the auto repair field. Each technician must be retested every 5 years.
